Fantasy Island

There is a far off place, an island of untold beauty and opportunity where the scenery is colourful, lush and vibrant. The people are warm and friendly. The sands are gentle and warm. The waters are sparkling and bristling with life. The inhabitants are a reflection of this wonderful place.
This is an island where everyone eats healthily and it shows. People choose regular meals of leafy greens, complex carbs, healthy proteins and fats. They enjoy drinking the crystal clear waters and the clear glowing skin it brings them.
On the island everyone works hard at a job they enjoy. They have chosen employment that stimulates them, and allows them to innovate and reach their potential on a daily basis. is recognised as a pathway to fulfilment, yet on this island it is not the overriding factor. On this island the balance of work and play is recognised as vital for wellbeing.
Living On An Island
Take a walk on the beach after 5pm on a weekday, and you’ll see plenty of people spending their free time on personal endeavours. Adults of all ages, teenagers, children, all taking time for social adventure and individual nourishment.
Play-fighting in the waves
Building sandcastles
Exercising in the sunshine
Exploring the rockpools
Meditating in the gentle breeze
Ball games on the sand
Chatting around BBQs
Walking hand in hand along the shoreline
Leaning against palm trees, reading for pleasure
You’ll have passed groups laughing loudly, couples talking gently and singles enjoying the tranquility of solitude. Everyone is taking the time, after a productive day at work, for activities important to them.
Sounds like a great place doesn’t it? I bet you’d love to know what the island is called and where you can find it.
I’ll tell you.
It’s called Some Day Isle and it exists in your head.
Someday
This island is a place that almost everyone plans to go to some day. We’re forever telling ourselves that:
- Some day I’ll lose that extra weight
- Some day I’ll change my job
- Some day I’ll find the person of my dreams
- Some day I’ll learn the piano
- Some day I’ll spend more time with my family / friends / girlfriend / husband
- Some day I’ll join the gym
- Some day I'll eat more healthily
- Some day I’ll . . .
Some Day Isle will always remain out of reach unless we take tangible action to get us there.
So Darryl, are you dreaming of a trip that will never happen? Or are you making concrete tangible plans? What steps do you need to take to get you nearer? What’s the equivalent of booking your ticket? Packing your suitcase? Boarding the plane?
Just saying “Some day I’ll . . .” is a million miles away from actually getting there.
Dreams Burn Down
There are three frogs sitting on a log. (Yeah, I know, frogs again right.) One of them decides to jump off. How many are left on the log?
Two?
No.
The answer is three. There’s a huge gulf between thinking about doing something and doing it.
How long are you going to be the frog that’s busy sitting, thinking but not doing?
